Greetings from Renee Reynolds Comabella:
I'm in my second year here at Collonges-sous-Salève, France, and live within walking distance of the Adventist campus. I’ve been teaching private violin and piano lessons to eleven families in the area. This year I am replacing the campus music teacher, teaching general music classes to preschool through ninth grade, plus a fourth grade English class. The music teacher will be back in June to take back her job.
It’s been a fun but difficult first year of teaching. Its always hard to replace someone, even harder to do it in a language that’s not your first!
Eloi and I attend a church in Geneva. In the fall, we helped form a choir and directed a Christmas cantata. This spring, (after translating them into French) I directed two children’s musicals (one for the church and one for the elementary school) called, “We are united” by Pan Andrews and “Nic at Night” by Kathie Hill. The church children’s choir has been invited to perform their musical again in June for the Swiss Adventist Union constituency meeting in Lausanne, so we’re taking the musical on the road!
I miss La Sierra, and all the talented students and teachers in the Music Department. Good luck and all the best to everyone preparing for end-of-the-year concerts, recitals, and juries!
Renée Reynolds
